I just had a thought:

Chrome OS threatens the IT department (as it currently exists) for many companies as with a redundant network connection, it basically eliminates user system maintenance, which can be a large chunk of IT's time (assumed).

It would be interesting, if one of the major opponents to Chrome OS would be IT staff that fear the loss of their jobs. IT staff may worry for the loss of their positions in that there would be far lesser demand for them.

Of course, this opens a new market, migration of services to web-tools and intranet development, and intranet maintenance.

I doubt IT staff- the important IT jobs, will ever loss their positions while theres computers around.

Also, should run Lynx on it. Minimal, gogogo.

But that's just it, lower workers may advocate for something that will require their attention. It may be smaller influence than upper IT, but it's still influence. Plus, the FUD machine can be operated by anyone with a blog... or a mouth.

Lynx is minimal in feature set only...

Well, you can start by just trying the chrome browser, which is a fantastic browser. Another good idea is to take stock of exactly what you do on your laptop and where you do it.

So for example, at my workstation, I can't use chrome, but around my house, or on the road, chromeOS may be a feasible solution.

I use Debian on my laptop, ive found the boot times are more reliable than windows.

Ill always get <10 seconds with Debian, but with windows, as time goes alone it gets to 30+.
Pretty much just coding/browser/tethering to n900.

Here's a great casual game that works in the browser:

STORE LINK: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...dgdpb?hl=en-US

It is addictive trying to complete the levels before the time runs out. Some of the upper levels can be quite challenging and require quick thinking and sound strategy.

As always, zero-install, zero-configuration. Just click the link in the web store, launch and enjoy!

It should also work with touch-controls and as such, be perfect for devices that support flash (eg. Android, N900).

When oh when is Nitrome going to post its wares in the web store?! These games would be killer.
