Confs still need to be written.
@the one who wanted it for Maemo5: you may want to ask some devs to include the cameraplus ui in camera-ui2 (cssu camera-ui)
confs are mostly the same. The only difference is the resolution for N950. I can add a 12 MP option.

thats just restarting xsession/mthome, no?
i, personally, would advise against anything destructive, and instead merely suggesting a reboot with a notification.

on a side note, you might want to consider opt-in daemonizing/prestarting.
its obnoxious to have your app always running without even notifying the user, but it can actually be a useful feature, and youre never going to get faster than without it.
