Hey can someone help me. There was a brown coloured social media widget on my Tab but cannot seem to find it anymore. Think was a Samsung widget. Does anyone know what it was called and where I can find it if I have somehow manaed to uninstall it?

ive got a problem with samsung movies
they keep failing to download at approx 90%
wifi on device keeps disconnecting
about 1.2GB of data downloaded for nothing everytime it fails
so far ive only been able to download 2 movies
the third has just failed me for the second time
tried all of them 3-4 times before i got them
total data downloaded is approx 10 GB
considering i pay £17.99 per month for 40 GB id say things are not looking good,
my wifi is 'and has always' been perfect throughout my home
and im leaving the tablet less than an inch from the routers aerial anyway,
so i very much doubt ill ever use real money on samsung movies
(not when pirate bay works everytime!)

And it starts downloading from the beginning each time? It sucks that your Tab is disconnecting (the first I've heard of such a problem), though a good software implementation would at the very least resume a download, especially one of that size where many things could go wrong.

Looking for Tab cables? In NA? It seems that ebay has some great prices on Tab cables:

Here are AV/Composite/RCA cables for the Tab for around $25:

Here are USB cables for the Tab for around $6:

I expect the prices to fall as the knockoffs arrive

The tablet apps are coming. Next up: Kindle for Android Tablets.

http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/04/a...oid-and-windo/

Is this just a marketing move? It seems that they are declaring compatibility for larger devices (hence the 'tailoring'). As I understand it, Kindle already works well on the Tab and larger screens.

If true, the different-screen-size-needs-different-OS dogma runs deep in the tech community. If false, it's a whole new app, which seems like a waste.

Full press release:
Amazon to Introduce Free Kindle Apps Tailored for Android and Windows LCD Tablet Computers

I agree that different screen size requires different UI, which may be more efficient f packaged/delivered separately than the pocketable version.

But, it's also been shown that with the current crops of tech, packaging them both together (pocketable + tablet version) can be fairly efficient. ie: one example is that pocketables resolution go around 800x480 - 960x640. tablets are 1024x600-ish, so you can actually share the UI elements/assets.

iPad + iPhone 'universal apps' are quite plenty and they work well without being too bloated.

The Tab can sync directly from yahoo if you have a yahoo account. Or if you have msn you can set it up as your exchange account. Of course you need to get them from your nokia to your online accounts in which case I think Windows Live Mail software on your PC is probably be easiest way.

Personally I have just discovered google contacts and it has been wonderful. Edit my contacts on PC and the changes show up immediately on the Tablet. Also means I have an automatic back up of all my contacts and can also easily transfer contacts between devices.
Also allows me to add custom labels for contacts which I always had on my old Nokias until Nokia smartly to remove that great feauture from N97 and N900. And allows you to enter every type of detail imaginable for contacts.

Never had any problem with google contacts automatically adding any email contacts. Although that is not my email account so do not send emails from my gmail so that may be why I do not have contacts being added automatically.

Simply UI layout is at most a minor portion of code (especially with Android) that should add very little appreciable bloat, so it's little surprise that iPad/iPhone apps work quite well in practice. As you suggest, setting defined cut-offs for different resolutions, is both a good and ridiculously easy to implement strategy for handling different screens that have share UI assets. In Android AFAIK, it would be as simple as a few lines of code and modification of an XML file.

Even with very different UI elements, but equal functionality, I would suspect that this would be far better than maintaining two separate applications with very little size bloat.
