Rdesktop exiting abnormally and not throwing any kind of error is not behavior I would expect. If the remote desktop session ever exits abnormally, it should show a countdown to reconnection dialog with some kind of error code (or a message explaining the error). Did this not happen?
what version of pyrdesktop are you running?

Hello everyone!
Since the old rdesktop frontend only worked intermittently, I've written a new one! It's called pyrdesktop, and it's available in diablo and chinook extras. Features include: sound, multiple remote desktop profiles, the ability to toggle almost all command line options. The current version is 1.5.0-2.
