If you have a question
  1. Check http://maemo.nokia.com (users) and http://forum.nokia.com/maemo (developers)
  2. Check the Frequently Asked Questions
  3. Use the Search

If at this point you still have a question... reply to this thread writing one question and only one in a single sentence.

If you need to get into longer details or you want to share your opinions etc then you surely want to start a new thread instead.

If you have an answer
  • Quote & reply the original question.
  • Reply with a single sentence containing a link - or even better a link alone.
  • Ideally the link should point to a static/wiki nokia.com or maemo.org page. Sending people to long threads, mail discussions or even micro/blog posts is not a sustainable solution.
  • If this question has been raised several times feel free adding the answer to Frequently Asked Questions and point to it in your answer here.
  • If in addition of your answer you want to discuss further, don't do it here. Just add a link to the existing or new thread.

Posts not following these rules might be deleted without further explanation, for instance discussion posts, Me too's, Thank You's, funny jokes and so on. Each of these exceptions is innocent in its own but all together might just add the % of noise we want to avoid for newcomers.

fwiw the idea of this thread came from: A small suggestion from a bear of very little brain.
my n900 keeps rebooting after trying to deinstall kernel to nokia screen and then says malfunction shutting down in 10s,tried reflashing but the message "unknown arguments specified" comes up, please help asap leaving for asia this week and need phone

Hey guys,

Got a question. Couldn't really see any other threads where I can post this question.

My 2g or GSM is not working anymore. I get no reception. I only get reception on 3g now. I am on the 3 network in London.

Anyone got any ideas why this is so?

I want to use my broadband on my Nokia N900(I don't have it now),but can I use internet on it even if I am out of the range of router? like we do in laptop with the help of internal router, can we use N900 as a laptop? so that we can use our broadband on it regardless of the distance from router? Plz reply and thanks in advance.

I thought TweakFlash made those sites work, where Flash 10.1 isn't really required but asks for it anyway. Also, when you do actually find a video that will work, even on 3G or WiFi, it's VERY choppy (al a dial-up from 1997) so is there any way to make it better?
I belive you only need to set up TweakFlash once and then MicroB will report the new flash version, mind you installing it without going to settings afterwards won't make any changes whatsoever. As for your second question you can check out this thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...ght=Boost+N900 or alternatively Swappolube from Extras. OC-ing would work with both options above

Hello
With every passing day, I am loving my N900 more and more. Yet there seem so much more to learn and experiment with.
Regards,

I don't understand the question, but here is an attempt to answer:

N900 can connect to WiFi out-of-the box, either normal or ad-hoc.

N900 can have USB networking: N900 connected to laptop with USB cable, and laptop connected to LAN (wired or wireless), and N900 gets Internet through laptop.

N900 can function as WiFi hotspot, though I haven't tried it.

N900 with OTG could potentially connect to wired LAN, there exist some cables for that.

Most likely, N900 can do anything laptop can do, but I don't understand your question.

I want to use my broadband on N900 by entering settings of my router in it.
I don't want an other tool like USB or laptop to help me connect me to internet.
unlike I use in PSP,when I move out of range of router it gets disconected (and we don't have wifi hotspot here)
But in laptop I can use my broadband setting and surf internet regardless of my position,it has nothing to do with router range.
So I wanna know if I can use my broadband in N90 by just entering settings like in laptop.
Thank you very much for your reply.

So you have WiFi router, and you want N900 to be connected to it even when you are far from it.

Settings->Internet Connections
Connect Automatically->WLAN
(So that instead of bothering you with choosing connection each time, it will connect automatically)
Connections->Your Connection->Edit->Next->Next->Advanced->Other: Transmission power (set to the highest) and power saving (set Off)

I hope it helps. The higher the power, the larger the range.

What if I go 1000kms away from my router?
Because when we say its a laptop(oh ya much more than that) ,then we should be able to do everything like a laptop, after all we are paying that much too.
