Well you are always free to keep the physical keyboard closed and use the on screen one.

All devices are different. The N900 is not an Iphone. I personally prefer the Nokia devices to other manufacturers products, so I am quite happy with the input interface. The top row takes a little to get used to but now I´m pretty quick with the physical keyboard.

For me the product quality in general, and the user interface (primarily s60.3rd and older interfaces) is more smooth and logical to me than on other devices. And I´ve tried quite a few: Palm, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Apple (only as a borrowed unit), multiple WinMo devices etc.

So I guess we cancel each other out in terms of preferences

yeah sorry if I wasn't clear enough.
What I was saying is, maybe with a bluetooth usb adapter (like this : http://www.inspector-gadget.co.uk/blog_134.shtml) it will be possible to connect whatever USB peripheral

from me to go from the iphone to the nokia the txting is a bit annoying-at the end of the day i feel there are to many fan boys out there- some pohones are better at some things- its simple.- but its great to have intergrated IM although its the same input method- its better than the non intergrated app based messenger/s on iphone..

I guess you never used really good qwerty phone given you are so excited about touch screen input.

Actually my previous phone keyboard was way better than n900's.. but even n900 is much better than iphone text input when it comes to typing more that 1-2Kb's.

It requires a custom driver we do not have, right?

how arkanoid ...

you cant use one hand in landscape..

how can you send a checky txt within seconds.. waiting at red lights, under desk at work etc.

you really have to try out these things- there is no way in the world that the n900 at the mo is better than the iphone at txting

Thanks, i do not really need one-handed typing. Typing with two hands with comfort is way more important to me.

its better for emails as i said etc, not for a quick txt when on the move..

we have a phone with the ability to do both-- and i am sure potrait txting is in the mix
