no its not working still. its not my day lol. this is the as root error i got

Ok.. Then I must tell what I have done before I installed newest version.. and I reach this point that it works

1. I updated version 0.7.x to the 0.8.2-1maemo1or2, and
this did not worked.. it did not launched to desktop icon.. BUT it worked when launched x terminal -console.

2. then I tried to the next 0.8.2 update if this helps... NO.. it breaks thing so badly that I must.. uninstall MyPaint.

I take BACKUP COPIES, brushes -folder, settings.conf, accelmap.conf files from /home/user/.mypaint/

3.Then I UNINSTALLED MyPaint 0.8.2
and removed /home/user/.mypaint -folder.

Then I start to cry, because I have no MyPaint in my device

4. Then I installed 0.7.x.. INSTRUCTIONS are the first page in this thread.

5. then I RENAMED /home/user/.mypaint/
brushes -folder, settings.conf and accelmap.conf files.

6. and copied my BACKUPs of these files to the there.

7. I tested and everything worked fine!.

I stop crying... and I waited next update to the MyPaint...

8. I installed next one which was maybe a 0.8.2-1maemo4..
It's not worked... it launched and I can draw but there is bugs..

9. I installed next one which was 0.8.2-1maemo5.. this one worked quite well but there is still those bugs like Color Picker bug...

10.I installed newest update 0.8.2-1meamo6 which works fine..
very nice.. I have not found any bugs so far...

Hi nice to hear it's working stable now So how to update? Uninstall the current 0.7.1 and then install 0.8.2 or just instal ontop of the old one?

I have updated 0.7.1 to 0.8.2-1maemo4.. then 5 and then 6.

So I do not no if it works when updating from 0.7.x straight to the 0.8.2-1maemo6 ?

(btw: new installation not creating .mypaint in /home/user wiht default settings ? , its done after first start i think - can you provide your .mypaint please ? just for test and search for diffs for other users if there is an )

I have launched it at least once before I copied my backup files.. maybe?!

And I think that when uninstall MyPaint there is still that /home/user/.mypaint -folder there?!

Maybe I have to sacrifice my working installation and try to do it ...
again...
... and this makes me wondering what the hell I have been done
Because MyPaint works now and it is incredible now this speed.

I just now make crappy picture with MyPaint to show that N900 + MyPaint 0.8.2 can handle "BIG" canvases with many Layers .. without problems.

I can
apt-get remove mypaint mypaint-data
(or
apt-get remove mypaint
apt-get autoremove
)

rm -rf ~/.mypaint

And then install it
apt-get install mypaint

It will create ~/.mypaint on the each boot, so it can safely removed.

Sometimes it reboots whole phone, specially when starting and stopping it on the loop (=debugging starting)

Color Picker is not fully workable, ctrl might be used on the same purpose. If color-square doesn't hide after ctrl+click, press 'r' and it should be gone. This will be fixed when some skilled python-gtk developer step in. (Or this might be issue of too old pygtk on the phone)

If it doesn't start there are something wrong with dependencies/libraries (missing modules). I just do not know what. When this it solved, we have valuable information.

Sorry , i dont write it there - i tried to remove it completely , then restore from backup , then only with default settings and nothink has helped

What version of python-support do you have installed? looks like python is not registering that module...
