Yeah, that's exactly what I'm going to do. I mean I'm in love with the thing and if it were legal to marry an electronic device I probably would.. :P But like I said, I just never use it.

The question was whether we regret our purchase. Answering that question does not entail listing any flaws we found. It is basically a yes or no question. The overwhelming number of people who responded answered that they did not regret it. Short of taking lie detector tests, you are not going to get a more reliable sample. This guy Slick or whatever implied that not listing flaws shows dishonesty. The question did not ask for a list of flaws.

I honestly do not regret spending the $700 that I spent for my n900. I have been researching it for like a few weeks. My friends that Have Iphones told me that it was junk, but the reality is that if nokia can get it doing some of the thinfs it should already be doing and work out the bugs the n900 can be a iphone killer.Sure there are more app on the apple store but most are ******ed anyway.......

But I love my n900 and I have it only for 24hours lol

for whats its worth, i am one of those ppl who researched a LOT before buying n900. I joined this forum when n900 was launched (sep), since than till now I have been following this forum as much as i can (i bought n900 on 20th dec 11pm, ofcourse slept very late that night). To me its perfect, its inability to send mms or once in a while browser crashing or something else does not at all bother me. When I say that its the best gadget I have owned or best money spent, i'm not just saying it, i mean it. I'm a developer, i've experience in .net many years, and than few years c++, i'm more than thrilled to have it with me, its a device I could only imagine. The choice of programming languages in maemo is better than android/iphone/etc. No plateform is more open than maemo and no one can argue over this.

Thats me, i'm a dev, again: when I say i am in love with it, i'm not lying or dishonest. As this and many other thread in these forums prove, many many other people have their own good reasons for loving this device. Anyone dont want to believe that they should finally stop visiting maemo.org.

Jurry's still out for me, but I think I'll end up happy with the purchase.
I'm happy with the speed on the internet and love the POTENTIAL that comes with open source platform. Some things I really want aren't in the box yet, and are either too troublesome to research / figure out right now, or just aren't available.
My hopes / disappointments...
  • spreadsheet program--GUI & fully usable
  • shift-click capability in web browser
  • Ctrl-click capability in web browser
  • Real USB--like a computer should have!
  • MMS (I think it's possible now, but too complicated for me to dive into).
  • more elegant double-click capability in browser
  • white noise generator (on N-800, I could use FM radio without earbuds plugged in to get this. In N900, FM radio won't come on at all w/o earbuds plugged in).
  • OVI support!

Some of these I knew weren't included (USB, MMS). Some I was very surprised by (Browser shift & Ctrl-click, FM Radio disabled w/o earbuds, and still no gnumeric spreadsheet).

After seeing how N800 capabilities improved in its first year, I'm optimistic that I'll end up very happy with my N900. Optimistic, but not certain.
