Fair criticism, although I think it's probably excluding China and India because of the vast local knock-offs. I'm still not sure why they wouldn't want to include that in the numbers.

That being said... MediaTek (and other similar chipset manufacturers) have managed to make some very inexpensive and tiny Android handsets (one of my coworkers imports Chinese handsets and has a very tiny, inexpensive 320x240 Android based Sony handset he had imported from China, for example). (ref: http://techcrunch.com/2010/07/18/android-china/). It's fair to assume that there must be a similar trend going on within China and India, but more importantly the whole rest of the world is clearly trending toward Android away from Symbian.

here's where the survey covered.

*Notes
Survey coverage:
- North Asia refers to Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea and Taiwan
- Southeast Asia refers to Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and
Vietnam
- Total Asia covers both North Asia and Southeast Asia
Survey period:
- 12 month survey period: Jul 09 – Jun 10
- Latest quarter comparison: Q310 vs Q309 (Jul-Sep months)

they missed out about 95% of Asia coincidently all the territories where Symbian is massive market leaders

I don't Buy that same trend is going on everywhere, They increased Sales of symbian devices last Q by 12 million compared to same Q last year.
apparently they are not Number in Europe anymore Now Asia and never was in america.
So if they not selling anywhere how are they increasing sales and still holding on to Number 1 Worldwide?

if you read the PDF they released Symbian is still Market leader in what they refer to as South East Asia which is most the countries in the survey.
so really Android is only ahead in market share in the 4 Countries what they refer to as North Asia

you can see the PDF below,
like i said its all been massively twisted to suite android they even do market research in India but chose not to include it.

I don't think anybody said they're currently the market leader in those markets included in the survey. They DO point out that there is a clear trend that it is expected to overtake sometime next year.

Doesn't seems that nokia phones will bring the stock value to any higher levels this or next year. Anyone have any input to how nokia handle systems and networks? any other areas where nokia can make money?

Danramos, NvyUs is correct: the "Asia" data conveniently omitted key countries to slant statistics.

I'd be embarassed to trumpet that sort of crap reporting.

Methinks thou art too quick to bash, sir.

Just saying--be wary about basing everything on stock prices.
LOL The "small" China-bug is one thing, regarding Nordic countries: this was before the N8 and C7 Nevertheless, it probably will come true since Sony Ericsson is selling X10 Minis and X8 like crazy. The new phones sold right now are either N8 (the leader) or X10 mini and X8, but the X10 mini and X8 combined and with a Samsung/HTC every now and then will sell at least as much or moremore than the N8 alone. Don't know exactly how well the C7 is selling, but it is hard to get hold of one, still nothing close to the N8 yet.

The market for iPhones is saturated, full stop, everyone who wanted one has got one.

Then the Nokia 6700 Slide (The best looking classic Symbian phone ever produced), is also selling like crazy.

So it is hard to tell how this will add up next summer. The only thing for certain is that there has never been so many phones sold as this year, and that smartphones has taken over for dumbphones. As for Android beating Symbian - maybe - maybe not, they are both winners as far as sales go.

Just checking job advertisements in Southern-Finland:

Tuotantotyöntekijä, 20 paikkaa, Salo (20 x 'production worker')

Elektroniikkatyöntekijä, 30 paikkaa, Salo ( 30 x "electronics worker')
...

...and some more like those. Those are open production/manufacturing jobs at Nokia's Salo factory, They have been aggressively hiring people since November.

My guess, Q4 S^3 sales and Nokia stock value on 27.1.2011 will suprise many.

I'm not surprised nor impressed. Q4 2009 was better than Q4 2010...
