This is awesome news, luiscesjr. Hope you can do it. Decent GBA emulation is one of the few things I miss about S60 3rd ed.

Yeah, I get really disapointed with vgba, even my N85 could play it as bad as N900, so it's a must!
( Was not really vgba, was vbag at that time )

Great to know another dev is pumping some effort into this, VGBA is a poorly written emulator.

Considering that no one has managed to make something better yet, that's a pretty though assertion.

I really wonder why do you all think gpSP is going to be any faster. As a hint to anyone that wants to start something with it, I suggest you check Figa's version first, evaluate the "performance benefit" and decide if it's really worth it to keep on spamming this thread forever...

You are quite right.
My first thought is making Figa's release a deb for most users.
If it doesn't have huge performance benefits, I would be on the move
to make a good port of the psp's version.
( I am unsure about my last part... I remember from the times I
had it on my psp that it's an unfinished work, don't know about gp2x though )

The one on the psp runs pretty much perfect though.

I won't pretend to know how to program an emulator (or anything else, for that matter), but if my n81 can run GBA games pretty well on frameskip 2, why wouldn't it be possible on much more powerful hardware? 0.o

I had an emulator on my N79, 320Mhz last-generation ARM, no graphics acceleration, and the emulator ran like a dream for everything I threw at it. There's better.

It just need some lil work.
Figa's release is good, but needs also to have a friendly GUI, and putten into a deb.
We have a more powerful system than those, yes, but we will see...

Different hardware, different rendering pipeline, different (and simpler) software stack, etc. etc. It doesn't help that the newfangled 3D hardware mostly does not help at all here (and in the N900's case it actually slows it down...).

Well, javis, since you are around, could you tell me if maemo 5 supports kde extensions on desktop files?
