I found this in regards to Thinkfree Text to Speech:

Apparently it's available via the desktop widget.

Also in a forum here:

You can listen the texts which are saved in your computer by text to speech feature. It is available in both the English and Spanish languages. You have to follow the following way to change the setting for the Text to speech.
Go to Application > Setting > Text to Speech
You can select the the caller I.D function and select the language.
If you want to make the document to read aloud then you have to open the ThinkFree Office Widget > My Docs and from there you have to choose the documents.
Now press right click button on keyboard > more > Text to speech.
Press the play button and it will let you to listen the document.

Press stop button if you you want to stop the reading of the document.
If you press play again after you pressed stop then it will again start reading from the first line of the document.
You can press stop twice if you want to get out of Text to speech function.

I don't seem to have a more option.

I was able to get the device to read out docs by using talk back but that reads out every single thing that you do on the device. I don't think that was how I got it to work yesterday because I did not have to go back to settings to switch off talkback.

Sorry, aside from this, I don't know what else to try. Any takers?

Feels like I'm looking at "The Weather Channel" through a green lens.

Not necessarily a bad thing. I'm just hoping that global warming will hurry up and get here already.... I'm freezing!

Is anybody else slightly creeped out at the fact that the moon is appearing IN FRONT of a tree?

I blame global warming...

On a more auspicious note, I just got my S305's working with my laptop. Up to this point it was missing bluetooth, but a $1 usb dongle from ebay promised to remedy that little problem -- and remedied it has been!

I was actually surprised at how *easy* it was to set up in Ubuntu 11.04. I basically just put it in and it was not only ready to go, but didn't go through an awkward 'installing drivers' phase. The icon just popped up in the task bar. I suspect that the USB interface is quite standard and the drivers were already there. Once again, Ubuntu not only pleases, but impresses. I've never seen a desktop OS operate this smoothly -- yes I my GF has a mac which I occasionally use, and I used Win7 up until a little while ago.

I have it working in A2DP mode and I'm VERY impressed by the sound quality. I was expecting far more artifacting, but I don't notice anything beyond that of a high quality MP3. Needless to say, that the quality of sound is very, very good.

As for the headsets themselves, the sound reproduction is quite good, though the base could be a bit richer. But they sound very good.

One thing I don't like about the headphones is that they are 'behind the head' headphones, and this makes it virtually impossible for me to listen to while lying down, something that I enjoy doing occasionally.

The range seems short, but this is more than likely partially a function of the USB dongle that I'm using. I can get about 10 meters (~30 ft) if there's a line of site. If there isn't, then the range is less. Still, it's nice to have sound piped to my ear-holes without the need for wires. It's quite liberating!

Now that I've got it working with A2DP, I've tasked myself with getting HSP functioning. Hopefully there isn't too much of a struggle, but it would be GLORIOUS to be able to use my headset with the laptop rather than requiring my N810 for SIP calls.

Color me impressed!

A bit off topic but.... I'm using Linphone in Ubuntu, and the interface seems simple, but full featured enough to be useful. The codec support also seems quite good. Here's hoping that it functions well with the S305's -- I have no reason to believe it wont. It will greatly simplify my phone setup, which is cumbersome at best thanks to the N810 wired headset (Yes, I know I can pair my BT headset with the N810, unfortunately, my headset results in poor call quality, rendering it a less than adequate solution.).

I seem to recall discussion on protective cases for the Tab and someone recommended a very good one which I do not think was the super expensive Samsung one. Searching this thread for "carry case" and "protective case" has not directed me to the relevant posts and "case" produces far too many results to go through.

Could someone [re-]recommend a good case.

Here is a selection from ebay.

I take it all back... I've been getting nothing but grief from Ubuntu's handling of the BT headphone/headset. Pulse audio is partially to blame as well as the general handling of BT devices. As it stands, I can't connect the headset as an A2DP or an HSP device.

Support is much improved compared to earlier versions of the OS, but much work has yet to be done to make things stable.
