Same here...

Also wished we could directly put a bookmark to the desktop.

yeah. after i tried firefox for the n900 for 3 minutes i just gave up. firefox has good ideas in it but its just not working very well. too laggy. 2 click zoom in. if it speeds up like the default browser then maybe i would give it another try. but the default browser has almost all the good stuff in it.

I found few shortcuts in firefox.

Ctrl + Up arrow to zoom in
Ctrl + Down arrow to zoom out
Shift + Up arrow to page up
Shift + Down arrow to page down

I am still investigating other shortcuts

Mozilla Runtime update 1.9.2.2pre-20100129011131, pushed out today, did not restore functionality to Firefox on my N900.

Firefox died after the update on my N810 as well. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice now. Installing from the Mozilla page did not help either.

It sounds like you've got the nightly repository installed as well as the RC one. Right now the nightly has a newer xulrunner (Mozilla Runtime) package but an older Fennec package (as far as debian versioning goes) -- Should be fixed in the next day or two. Please check and make sure you're only using one repository in the application manager.

After mashing the buttons alot I see it does actually work! Thanks!
Not the greatest implementation though, rather choppy
