That's pretty exciting news, Texrat -- here's hoping they don't put you back in the box again. (Ever see Cool-Hand Luke?)

A little update...
I can't say much on the subject yet, but I can confirm easy access to WiMAX all over Virgina and Maryland. When I was out there recently I kept running into Xohm hotspots almost everywhere I went. Damn things actually got to be pests-- I had the tablet on "autoseek" and the hotspots would sneak up and suck the battery dry if I wasn't paying attention.
So... good news for folks out that way, right?
And testing is going well. That's all I can say.
EDIT: ah! I just found this thanks to the "pr0n" link: http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/18/s...chicago-and-d/
I exaggerated a *bit* about battery suckage but it just might turn out to be an issue for folks walking about. That's gonna lead to a need for solutions, whether that be outboard "juicers", carrying spare BP-4Ls, solar cells on headwear or what-have-you.

Interesting... I really hope your conversations aren't curtailed for this because I'm kinda happy for snippet info such as this.

As I said, no relation, but thanks. I have been very careful here.
And I see this as a possible power solution:

I'm buying one!

Interesting... certainly will increase the operating time. (3600mAH versus 1500mAH.)
At the bottom of the page Mugen has the standard BP-4L replacement battery with 1800mAH capacity. The standard Nokia battery is only 1500mAH. If true, the 20% capacity increase sounds interesting too and doesn't break the bank... Is it really better, or is Nokia just concervative with the battery rating?
Now if they offered a "kit" for the home hacker for a reasonable price that would be great.
