Totally agree. I'm just going to give them the benefit of the doubt, wait until they release a non-beta version and take stock on how useful the product is to me. I love having access to my cable box, even if it's for short periods. I don't like the fact that I have no dvr functionality when it comes to seeing my recorded shows, but hey it's still in beta for the nokia. I wish the IR learning mode worked for programming my remote, but after two days I've given up on that either because it doesn't work for the titanium hd wi-fi or I've got a malfunctioning ir unit that doesn't even see my remote in learning mode. I also wish the unit would go into some sort of standby mode and turn on when needed because it can get pretty hot, even when doing nothing. My conclusions are it's stll a polished product, just a work in progress.

loaded ver .54. i still have ver 172.256 on my Hava Titanium.

although it could be simply network latency, the picture tears occasionally when there is alot of action on screen. maybe the bit rate is capped too because my max kbps reported seems to hover around 300-400 as opposed to the 600-800 i was getting in the first one. I think the picture is scaled a little smaller and in letter box when i go full screen.

other than that, seems to work okay. good that i didn;t have to recreate the connection since that Hava ID is ridiculously long. also don;t have to put a 0 in front of the channel number i want to change to and the enter command seems to work on my direct tv tuner.

You know you can assign a short name to your HAVA box and the connect using that name instead of the ID, right?

You can also use an option in there to teach your IR commands manually but that's a bit more time consuming.
Hi

Just got the HAVA and really like it.. I have the same problem with my SA 8300 DVR... However, If you look at the top of the Remote you will see a drop down list... just to the right of shere it says Scientific Atlanta drop down the list and you will see a selection toitle PPV (wink) Hit that and the DVR list comes up... no idea why.. but it does....

Wow, thank you for that. I thought I tried every IR code in the book to get the recorded list up, when all I had to do was use the PPV command and set it up as one of the colored code buttons. Now I've got the Scientific Atlanta A,B,C and the recorded list as the fourth button on the hava player.

Amazing that I spent so much time on this and still couldn't figure it out. I must be losing what's left of my so called tech savvy mind.

Thanks for the help!!

I have never gotten the remote connection to work using the short name. i got all the ports open and I can connect to their web page from a PC on my network. the only indication I have is that it says the p2p server is disconnected.

i got it working using the Unique Long ID so I gave up on the short name.

this whole thing using their P2P server to find your box is not ideal. it would be good if they allowed you to connect directly to the box via ip address and port number. then you could use DynDNS to create your own web address to easily find your box.

I had the same problem until I figured out that the HAVA name is case sensitive. Check that.

I just don't get the way they designed the network side of things. It needs an overhaul, IMHO.

I can see the logic in using central server to assist in circumstances such as NAT on one or both sides, and maybe even by default, but why make this a requirement?

yeah, we could go on and on about what we'd like to see improved. they could have put an embedded web page for configuration too. the PC client is a little quirky and unreliable when it comes to configuring the unit. plus i had issues with my unit rebooting causing it to drop off the network when I tried to upgrade the firmware causing me some tense moments.

incidently, I loaded their beta firmware 173.222 which enables the USB recording to an external USB hard drive. couldn;t get it to work with any of my USB keys but atleast I was able to get my N800 connected to it.

btw, I used all lower case in creating my short name but could not get connected to it. I must not have the right port open.

That's wacky....don't know what to tell you. Have you tried emailing the HAVA support address?
