Thanks for your work on this program, anidel. Can you show a video of the rotate in operation? I'm wondering if it's animated at all.

I can, but the animation is the same as you've seen in several N900 videos when they show the Phone app rotating.

I'll try to make a video tonight

So Xournal Package 20 is on Extras Testing [1].

If you've got an N900 please update and test this new version.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. From videos of the phone app, I've found that animation rather unsatisfactory, particularly the few seconds of black screen while it transitions. Is that transition something that's provided by the application framework?

I prefer the transition I've seen in videos while viewing images full screen in the photo browser, which animates a rotation of the image on the screen. I guess this is different because it's done "in software" (i.e. in custom code in the app), rather than provided by the framework.

Yes, the application just REQUIRES to be shown in Portrait or in Landscape (no matter what position the phone is) and the system will rotate the screen accordingly.

It takes a bit because it's the whole X/Window rotating, not something fast
But if you see how "fast" Android is, then you wouldn't complain

The Images rotation is totally different. It's a full screen app and the app itself is rotating JUST the picture, but it's not requesting the whole system to rotate. That's why they can control it in there and why it's faster.
And there's no blank screen as there's no actual rotation of the system.

So yes, you are right, it's done "in software" i.e. in the Photos app.

Are there plans for i18n support via Transifex.net or is the infrastructure in place already?

I use the standard gettext and .po files for translations.

There's already a russian translation (even though it needs to be completed with the new strings present in Maemo 5).
