Quick question: imported messages are added to existing conversations? In proper order?

Thanks again

I just noticed Ovi Suite 2.2 is gonna support the N900 better. Including messaging. Hopefully I can import them with Ovi suite now

Hi,

How do I actually use SMSExporter.

I have the program saved to my home directory and can execute it as root,

sudo ./smsexporter

but I don't see any output - where is the output saved?

Could someone please help me out? I've tried searching through the first few pages of this thread but to no avail. I copied my messages and the smsimporter into the root of my n900, but all I get is a "directory does not exist" error.

Here's what I type into X Terminal:

cd /home/user
cp MyDocs/smsimporter MyDocs/sms.csv .
chmod +x smsimporter ls-l

A lot of text appears after this (I typed ls-l to try avoiding the "permission denied" error) and I type in the last step:

run-standalone.sh ./smsimporter sms.csv

Only to get a "no such file or directory" error. What the hell am I doing wrong? I copied everything to the root of my n900 as posted, and I still get this stupid error.

4. disconnect USB cable
5. open X terminal
6. enter these commands:
cd /home/user
cp MyDocs/smsimporter MyDocs/sms.csv .
chmod +x smsimporter
run-standalone.sh ./smsimporter sms.csv
Please make backup of your messages in N900 before importing your old SMS messages.
Hi rmoravcik,

I tried following the steps which you have posted however I'm getting an error, cp: cannot stat 'MyDocs/smsimporter' : No such file or directory as soon as I typed cp MyDocs/smsimporter MyDocs/sms.csv .

Can you let me know what's missing here?

I'm sorry but because I'm a total noob I don't know how to move my files to the home/user folder. Is it a directory I can access through my computer? I've used my Wifi router to get into the phone's system before to replace some icons with custom ones I downloaded. Are they in there? Because so far I only have the extracted smsimporter files and my csv contacts file in the root.

Thanks a lot.
