It might be required to take a look at the playlist implementation in the openspotify lib too. Anyway I am very grateful for all the provided feedback, thanks a lot!
Ironically it loaded just fine when I tried on home wifi network this morning, maybe it was a bad day yesterday @spotify - had some sync issues on my mac.

Just a quick status update; my intention is that the next QSpot version will be a major update, so it will still take some time until release due to changes required in the library, GUI etc (among other things, I am working on adding a bitrate selection option)..

I was wondering if it was possible to build in a sleep mode? Now i just execute a "sleep 3600;killall qspot" script but its not the nicest way to do it.

Have I understood it correctly that you would like to configure QSpot to quit automatically after e.g., an hour? In that case it should definitely be possible to add..

I have a problem getting it running. when starting it I get the login prompt, fill in the details and then get the screen with playlists. However, after a second or so it terminates. I tried to run it from the command prompt and then it produced an output something like this:
"Got here too..."
... lots of stuff...
... "Adding playlist:" ... for all my playlists (10)
"metadata updated.."
"Attempting to load unloaded track from track collection"
"Load track.."
...same two lines a number of times...
"Segementation fault"

Any ideas?

It seems very strange, is the problem only with the current version, or have you experienced it with previous versions as well? In the current version there is a playlist loading timeout of 30 secs, has the playlist loading process taken that long before the lists appear and the application crashes? I could add some more status messages to the next version, which would help in tracking down the problem.

This happens to me too, and it crashes just a second or so after displaying loadin playlist.

Have you always experienced this problem (or only with current 0.0.5-4 version)?

I have only tested with the latest version (0.0.5-4). I just found out about it and thought it looked like a really nice application!

Well, I just tested again to see how long time it took and NOW IT WORKED!

As far as I know I have not changed anything since yesterday, When checking the trace the difference is that after all the lines with

"Attempting to load unloaded track from track collection"
"Load track.."

it produced a number of lines

"metadata updated.."

Then it worked nicely. A bit strange, but as long as it works I'm happy!

I am happy to hear that you got QSpot to work.. The output "metadata updated.." is produced when e.g, more tracks are available for the loaded playlists. In normal cases the playlists should load instantly, sometimes however it can take significantly longer (therefore, the process will timeout after 30 secs). Anyway, hopefully it will continue to work, I will add some more logging to the next version as well.
