yes indeed, this has been a great example of the value of an "open" phone. A year after the phone's release we're getting valuable new features. Thank you very much for making this work, it is very nice to see contact info on my stereo with my phone in my pocket.

Can't wait to see what the hackers do with Terminal Mode stuff...

Ah nice, this project was mentioned on MWKN - Thanks a lot to the editors (Jaffa) for that!
Ahm, well was not necessary to mention my name ;-), it was the developers who did the magic here...

So, credits got to drdrewusaf, tuxy, jarmo2, hschmitt, Ossman, mirakels...

Btw guys, will we see updates coming, or a move to extras?

I tried to look for something similar on the n900 but cannot find anything.

I tried to find a dbus interface to osso-addressbook. There is a dbus service for oss-addressbook but I cannot find any info about that so don;t know if it is possible to retrieve contacts osso-addressbook via dbus.

If anyone knows more about this we could try implement it.
Do you have any link or something to this patch?

See http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-b.../msg04705.html for a discussion and the patch for phonebook at commands.

Would it be possible to change the addressbook reading to use the same code as what pbap/irmc support is using?

that would mean a lot of code duplication and adding extra dependencies to the bluez stack.
Getting the info via a dbus service makes the code more general.
If not there it might be more worthwhile to create a dbus service into evolution data server or something like that.

While I'm a newbie to the N900, I'm happy to be a test guinea pig for any AT command support bits you care to produce presuming the new bluez bits are otherwise stable. It wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to reflash my phone....

My n900 is set up to withold caller i.d./my number. This works ok when not connected to bluetooth. However I have noticed since enabling this code my call book synchs o.k. but any one I call via car bluetooth (Parrot 3200 LG) can see my caller i.d. i.e. my number is not being withheld.
Is this a known issue?

Tried this on my BlueAnt ST3. It ttransferred my address book but sadly the contact names do not match the numbers so if I call my N900 from my home phone, the phone shows the correct contact information but my Blueant announces the wrong name. I guess that's what I get for trying it with something not explicitly supported.
