HTC have lost a customer for any future phone upgrades I do. I do not expect to buy an android phone and be left in the dust for upgrades. How can I possibly trust HTC to keep any future phones up to date if they have already shafted me on the hero. Its the classic mistake that smells of an idiotic profiteering mentality i.e. sell someone a product and then let it rot in the hopes to sell them a newer shinier version. Well heres the news flash HTC (not that they are intelligent enough to listen). After the recession people are not prepared to be burnt twice.
Everybody been watching for this update for a mounths and .... I think we never going to see Android 2.1 on our heros. Probably HTC want to tell us buy new HTC with Android 2.1. Big shame for HTC. HTC Hero is No.1 but we cant use app. for 1.6+ . But if they dont upgrade our Android as soon as posible I think that this going to be our last HTC phones

Trouble is Mark, one update announcement from a manufacturer, does not a marketing campain make! Where as delaying a release and giving short expectations keeps thousands googling and watching and searching for HTC....see where im going with this?
I feel your pain and it makes my blood boil too. enough to want to quit the alegance and switch back to iPhone. Only reason i got the HTC Hero was the deal orange were offering while the 3G was just too damned expensive and to be honest . Compared to my old version iPhone thats now relegated to being an iPod its been far more twitchy and slow to respond to commands.
It gets its knickers in a twist sometimes and just sits there trying its hardest to close a screen down and the backlit nav keys dont back light when you need them to.
I like the storage and i like the style but there are some ergonomic querks that dont quite make it as comfortable as the iPhone.
And this delay tactics just annoys rather than raises anticipation
slight hiccup? Ive been watching for this update for longer than I care to remember. This slight hiccup is about the 8th time the release date has been pushed back. Its about time the dev guys got a grip, announced November and be done with it.

Difference is that they have identified the problem, announced an intention to fix it and set a provisional date for it.
(Though note the word "apparently" in the article)
And they have an app store that works. And devs in their thousands are writing for it.
And blah blah blah...

How long have you been waiting for pr 1,2?
Have you looked at the pr 1.2 changelog and the bug fixes it contains? If that doesn't show identification and solving of problems then i don't know what does.
Ovi Store works. It just doesn't have a lot of content. Which brings up the lack of devs problem. Well, Nokia can't exactly force devs to make the apps, can they? Maemo Extras has a lot of apps as far as i'm concerned.
