Actually USB2.0 is one of the fastest interfaces for bidir data transfer that the SoC provides. That's also the reason why I said that retrofitting with adapter chips doesn't make any sense, the data coming in fast would "congest" inside device while outbound data wasn't available at higher bandwidth than internal USB2.0, not matter what interface we convert that USB2.0 to.
There's one way to get data in and out of device at maybe 10GB/s, but it hardly qualifies as "wired" unless you attach a wire to your 64GB uSD card ;-)

I don't know which "ugly restrictions" you refer to. We still can't tell for sure which destinations we can ship to, so basically not much will change.
Transfer speeds is exactly what I tried to explain to you. There is no way the CPU can transfer more than 480Mbit/s to/from the outside. And actually access to internal storage is even way slower on N900 (~14Mbyte = ~100Mbit per second), for Neo900 we will see if we can get faster eMMC card. There's not much use in transferring constant streams of data into device at higher speeds than the device can store them internally.

No, not yet.

I guess you could donate directly and ask us to send the device to pichlo (of course if he agrees to!), that probably won't be a problem, but we cannot confirm yet where we will be able to ship to and where we won't. We'll try our best, possibly refund when shipping to your place turns out to be impossible... so you can take a risk and donate now, but be aware that we simply don't know yet if direct shipping to your place will be managable.

But I need to know whether I may end up being forced to use proxy for transferring money, or not.
There are no limits at money transfer itself. If you're able to find some way to send money to our bank account and we'll receive it, it's all fine.

At some places it may be hard or expensive (or even both) to find a way to send an SEPA/IBAN transfer. We may offer some alternatives soon.

It's now possible to donate via PayPal!

See: http://neo900.org/donate

We're looking into some possibility to donate via BTC as well (but don't take that as an announcement, it's nothing more than "looking into" yet :P )
