For anyone who's trying to figure out where to use our beloved but aging device, I can confirm that with this method N810 can be used as a stereo bluetooth speaker.

I had to reflash N810 to make it work, though. I guess there was a conflict with another package, which I suspect was a2dp-support_0.9_all.deb. Just to be sure I also installed Diablo Turbo. One issue is it often gets out of sync. As the OP stated I had to run l2ping command to fix it. Another issue is the volume level is pretty low. I had to jack up all the volumes on the source and N810 to make it loud enough.
