Hi, installing N9QTweak and Billboard, you will love your N9 like no other other toy...

You may want to rethink whether you really want N9 having the experience with N900. I hope you are aware N9 is not N900 with more RAM and better CPU. IMO N900 goes circles around N9 in terms of usability, applications, anything. TBH I don't have N9, but N950, though it should not make any difference. N900 is still supported (CSSU), never heard of any such for N9/50.

I don't want to start flame wars here , just warning.

The question, that comes to my mind: how can Android be fun, when you had N900 before??

Like you, i had N900 and then N9, sadly you can't easily install N900-Programms (or call it apps if you want) on N9, the Programm i miss most is modRana, i hope MartinK will offer full support for N9 soon

modRana is in "shared repo" , I tested it , it works ... but does not download offline maps , right ?

Thats nothing new to me. I have thought about buying another N900, but I have not forgotten, how painfully slow it felt at times...

It all depends on what you do with it. I have never touched an N9 so I can't say, but I'd never say the N900 is or feels slow. YMMV, obviously.

While you were away, freemangordon started the cssu-thumb project, where many programs are being recompiled using gcc 4.7.x and the thumb2 instruction set (which now runs stable thanks to the linker in >= 4.6.x plus kernel-power >= 51r1).

I have not personally installed cssu-thumb because of the cssu part (which still doesn't quite convince me), but hearing the reports of people who have tried it makes me think that I should try it at least on one of my 3 N900s

The idea with thumb2 is that the programs take less space, which in itself is a blessing for the N900's limited rootfs. But less space also means that the code segments take less space in memory, meaning a bit less RAM is used, and *that* is a blessing for the N900 (obviously most RAM is taken up by dynamically allocated blocks, which will take the same space regardless of the instruction set).

Since AFAIR you were already using CSSU on your N900 (hope you still have it), you should be OK with it.

Anyway, even if you opt for the N9, enjoy it

In response to the thread's owner, I would like to share some of my experiences as a NORMAL user who has spent a year with N9 ( kindly take note that I am a normal user, not a dev!).

- N9 QTweak ( I use this to increase font size in message SMS, increase Volume, create filecaseroot which can use to browse system files, enlarge caller ID avatar,etc...)
- Billboard (make N9's standby screen much nice and useful, see picture below this post)
- Call Recorder (auto record all in-out call, perfect!)
- Easy Answer (answer the call just by move near to your ear)
- FileCase (browse file and photo and what more? browse your cloud service (like dropbox, skydrive, google drive) right in this app)
- Home screen settings (change operation provider' name and much more...)
- myExplorer ( transfer file to/from PC easily via wifi )
- FasterN9 (currently use 1.1.3 and witness how N9 faster!)
- Extensions for Status Menu (for the one who donot dare to use much Tweat like me, to get status menu more function and notifications, see picture below this post)
- Meecast ( worth to replace stock one )
- Vibrateme ( phone vibrates as soon as your outing call is answered )

Web browsering:
- Firefox ( for flash video streaming, must have FlashPlayer installed )
