Thank you for my split second of fame.

At least paper doesn’t glare at you…
Great point, I love ebook reading but my eyes suffer, especially at night.

On the train the other day I sat beside a passenger using a Sony ebook reader. I have never seen a purpose made ebook device before. What surprised me was the fact the screen did not appear to be lit. The background was grey with black text. So while it looked dull it suggested many hours of eye stress free reading.

So it occurred to me, why don't our large screen (3.5" and over) mobile devices have an ebook screen display option to achieve this effect? Or is there more to it than that?

Currently that kind of display is only practical for black-and-white displays. There's plenty of work being done to commercialize it for color, but it's some time away.

Actually, from the videos, it looks like this is designed to be a real PC rather than an e-reader. It looks like it is based on InkSeine with a touch of Surface. For those not familiar with it, InkSeine was designed as a pen/stylus-centric UI which would serve as an information manager as well as a launcher. It runs under full Windows (Tablet XP, Vista, or Win7), not Windows Mobile.

Of course that is not really the device or anything, but I gotta say that is a cool idea. I realize it is not a direct competitor to the n900 cause its not a phone (and its not really an ITT either since its bigger, ((I think)). But I love the infinite journal.

(Think something similar could be programmed for the n800 (or n900 if you really wanted a phone....)?)

new video up:
http://gizmodo.com/5369493/the-couri...-secret-tablet

kinda like how they stuff a "file" in between the "pages" when moving it between places. Iirc, thats how the desktop was used in the first mac, as it was not a multitasker, and was highly focused on drag and drop.

i suspect that kind of visual feedback, similarly how the images you "longtap" kinda flutters up from the page to get flicked over. A similar trick for the classical desktop would be that a copy action had "ghosts" float of to a clip block kind of icon, that when clicked would show what was waiting in the "buffer". Imo, drag and drop of the mouse kind basically fails as its to easy to do by accident.

also, i can see someone browse their music or videos with a system similar to the way the new video switches to the browser. Have your player on one side, and have your "box" of media on the other and then flip thru it, find what you want and flick it over to the player.
