Question:
I have virtually none of these IPv6 packages:
wide-dhcpv6-client, osso-rtsol, libip6t-idletimer, etc.
Yet thus far, I've (as far as I know) didn't have any problems with wifi networks that contained IPv6 (albeit they are all dual-stack, not IPv6 only). So obviously the kernel and whatever already comes with a decent amount of IPv6 support as is.
So my question is, what exactly can the power-kernel do/support IPv6-wise, without these packages? I.e. does the kernel come with its own DHCPv6 support? If so, why is the wide-dhcpv6-client better? Ditto for router solicitations/advertisements and the idletimer stuff?
If, for example, I grabbed just the osso-ipv6 package and dependencies, what would my N900 be able to do that it couldn't before? (And if the answer is something so simple and general as saying that it currently can't do any of the DHCPv6 or router solicitation/advertisement stuff, then how does it manage to work on IPv6 networks anyway?)

I mean specifically besides from the ICD IPv6 compatibility part, since that's a whole other mess. I'm asking about the lower more technical level, not ICD which afair only deals with the internet connections UI in Maemo?

@adunanzav3x: I do not know but if you think that there are problem, uninstall ipv6-support and wide-dhcpv6-client packages and install them agin. For uninstalling package run as root: dpkg -P <package>

Plus in kernel there is code for stateless address configuration, so if router send RA that clients can set up stateless address, our ipv6 kernel will do it. but thats all. Dhcpv6 client is userspace part. Package ipv6-support depens on some kernel with ipv6 support, then on icd2 module, userspace dhcpv6 client and it will also enable ipv6 support in some applications. There are also some icd2 scripts which will cause that you will be able to connect also to ipv6 only networks...

I updated first post with additional info.
@adunanzav3x: I do not know if everything will work correctly. But if you uninstall all those packages and install it again everything should work fine.

Now when repositories working again, all ipv6 packages were pushed to extras-testing. Please vote for promoting them to Maemo Extras:

Is there a reason no-one has attempted to reverse engineer and clone the libicd-network-ipv6.so module?
If I had the ARM skills and the ipv6 network to test it on, I would give it a go
