Maybe I haven't looked close enough, but I couldn't find a script that shows a transient message near the top of the screen. "notification" is more a dialog through the middle, which you need to validate. I suppose there's a d-bus call for that ?...

Check:
freemoe-dbus-send-hello-world is closest i have at the moment.

Indeed, almost the same:

"Replace SystemNoteDialog with SystemNoteInfoprint and don't include the last uint32:0 string:'NAO OK!' "

nice scripts, but they take up nearly 1 MB on Rootfs .. I would really appreciate an optified version of this
