All I can think of now is that the permissions on the panorama directory are wrong. Why they would be for you and not me for eg. is well..... J_L is right in principle but it is so individualistic an error the devs (Nokia) will need some kind of pointer or two...

Perhaps install sysklogd and see if anything relevant gets entered into /var/log/syslog & /userlog. It can be more informative than the console.

Ultimately, one needs to reflash everything and make panorama the first prog installed and test. If it works then install the next, test on so on. If it fails as the first install then that is reportable (even if a unique failure) as extraneous progs and libraries are not at issue...

I have fcam installed, but still the same problem when it's removed.

Here is what I get when running panorama from xterm :

user@Nokia-N900:~$ panorama
Init: 0x426b3330
SavePreference changed to only cropped
>>>>> MED: 2048
SavePreference changed to only cropped
Committing user settings
rawPath = /home/user/MyDocs/Panorama/
resolutionIndex = 1
savePreference = cropped
autofocus = off
Done committing

I had the error message, and I pressed several times on camera button, but nothing appears on the stderr/stdout

What happens if you simply copy some other file into
/home/user/MyDocs/Panorama/
on the xterm?
2nd guess: what are the rights for panorama?
I have a link from /usr/bin/quickpanorama-pro to
/opt/maemo/usr/bin/quickpanorama-pro
which has root:root rights.

But I do not have a /home/user/.panorama .

James_Littler : Yes, my camera app works (and BlessN900, and FCam...)
How to contact the authors, on OVI store, there is no link or information...

ME2g : My /home/user/MyDocs/Panorama is :
permissions : 777
ownership : user.root

I can write on it.

I don't have quickpanorama (pro or not) installed, so I don't have the symlink you talk about. But I've the following :
/usr/bin/panorama -> /opt/maemo/usr/bin/panorama
The target file is :
permissions : 755
ownership : root.root

I really think the problem is not permissions related, but "USB storage" detection related.

All I can suggest is downloading and installing strace (it's in the SDK repository and has no dependencies, so it's easiest just to download the .deb file and install with "dpkg -i") and running:
Code:
strace -ff -o trace_panorama /usr/bin/panorama
Then run through trying to create a panorama. Then exit and upload all the trace_panorama.* files here. They'll show all the system calls made by panorama as it's running - hopefully that'll provide some indication of where it's failing.

1st of all, thank you for the advice, I supposed that strace wasn't available on maemo, and I was wrong.

Here are the traces :

Unfortunately that didn't prove very helpful I can't see anything in there that suggests why it's failing.
