Xournal, FBreader, Modest (not really extras, I guess) and Tear.

I could wait a few versions for everything else.

Omweater, large statusbar clock cause I am OCD like that. Not really. Mediabox for video and music cause vlc doesn't work. it freezes indefinitely causing to pull battery to reboot. Maemo mapper is in the mer repo but doesn't work. It would be nice if it did, even if it was just for the maps since I am guessing the gps software is nokia non-free whatever. A port of dosbox and rubybox would be nice too.

Once sound and gstreamer or mplayer will work on Mer, I'm surely going to try to get MediaBox run fine on Mer.

aren't the apps in fremantle extras-devel the more compatible with Mer ?

Thanks for the response... building a list...

Canola: source isn't in extras... I need a .dsc .... anyone?
Maemo-mapper: uses nokia binaries for gps... not low-hanging enough yet. Stskeeps has hacked at it though
mplayer: patent issues on our build-service... we'll find a workaround eventually

@GeraldKo
emelfm2 and Panucci gat me a .dsc and tarballs

@ekul, iskarion, grog
gpe stuff is all there.... except calendar ... grrr. Soon.

@everyone
noted

BTW, if people link to a .dsc (with corresponding source) it makes my life a *lot* easier and you go straight to the top of the queue. This is because it's not always as easy as you'd think to find that sucker!!

That's because Mer uses OmapFB video driver as a default, which is unable to play videos, so even if you had mediabox it won't help. Install xserver-xorg-video-fbdev, remove driver and device specs from xorg.conf and your videos will work like this:

The best xserver for NITs would be xserver-xomap but it has keyboard some issues currently.

Btw, i'd like to have MediaBox too , and what i have tested, it compiles, installs and works ok once there's mplayer

mplayer or gstreamer or libxine. One of these backends would be enough and we are ready to go!

To swap to Mer I'd need working:
1) GPE + GPE summary (or functional equivalent)
2) Xournal

I'd also really like
3) Mplayer or vlc

MediaBox actually supports Xine backend???

If so, we'll have MediaBox in no time. Xine is the best backend i have ever tested so far..
