Gnuchess 5 comes with the chess program that is with Diablo when it is installed. So there is no Gnuchess 5 install required.

First of all, thank you very much for your effort to bring eboard into extras repository Bruce!

I made a little howto "Installation of eboard on maemo5" in the wiki. It seems to work very well in maemo5 too. Sound is working as well.

It would be great if eboard also could be published to maemo5/fremantle extras repository. Do you think this would be possible, Bruce? If you don'T want to do this, maybe someone else with experience in pushing packages to extras is willing to do this?

Thank you,
jukey

Thanks! Yes, it works if you have a stylus and good eyes. I wonder how difficult would be to get at least the board using all the real estate possible.

Having the rest non-Hildonized is ugly but but between this and nothing, definitely this.

Any updates to post for us on Eboard, Bruce?

Last I remember is that you were working on getting a 480x480 chess board on the screen.

There seems to be a problem at least with a post-PR 1.1 release (haven't tried with a pure 1.1)

/home/user/MyDocs/.documents # apt-get -f install libesd0
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libesd0: Depends: libaudiofile0 (>= 0.2.3-4) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

I don't think Bruce has finished his work on getting full audio playing correctly.

I think all it supports right now is simple beeps.

I'm just following the steps to install Eboard in Maemo 5 described at http://wiki.maemo.org/Chess/Eboard

I could install it weeks ago but now I get this problem of dependencies.

It has been awhile since I posted info. I have been cleaning up a few other Diablo apps that I have written, and use all the time, and am almost done and ready to start back on eboard.

I don't have an N900 so I have no plans to port the code to Fremantle.
I do plan on cleaning up all the GUI's. I will also verify the audio. I will also maximize the real estate for the chess board.

What is the output if you try the command:
Code:
apt-get -f install
? The package libaudiofile0 is available in extras-testing and extras-devel. If it's not installabel maybe Graham as package maintainer could help?
