i agree with you, i hope mugen power comes out with a 3600mah battery with a improve back cover, i seriously don't care how big it gets as long as i have all the power to run whatever i like for the whole day or two. Yes limiting my apps and brights down save battery but i prefer 3g on all the time with brightness and widget all over the place...

There are two additional problems that a decent back would solve. The first is a freebie to the back manufacturer, The current back has a shiny coating around the camera lens area. This can and has ruined photos with glare from the flash or other bright light in front of the camera. The manufacturer of the improved back would just need to leave the shiny stuff off.

The second problem is that the n900 can not lie level on its back. with a little care in design, an improved back could take care of this and enable an app to check levelness in two dimensions at once.

So, an improved back would enable:
1. larger battery
2. decent stand
3. decent flash and backlit photos
4. a decent "spirit level" app

I have also sent them an email. A larger battery would allow me to run my screen full brightness and everything connected all the time sounds like something I wouldn't mind paying for, I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Perhaps bad UMTS reception in your work area?
What if you just put it in offline mode for a morning? (OK , this means no calls :-)
What if you switch it to 2G/GSM?

For the record: I also wrote an E-Mail to customerservice@mugenbattery.com :

Hi there at Mugen Batteries,

I am interested in a Mugen-quality battery for the Nokia N900 as a replacement for the Original Nokia BL-5J. The BL-5J is also used in the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, has 1320 mAh capacity and should be pretty popular.

Especially with the N900, which uses lots of energy, a battery for this device could be a great hit. Are there already plans to make a higher capacity replacement for the Nokia BL-5J battery?

Thanks and best regards,
...
