I just prod the screen with the pad of my finger. It pushes such a large area of the screen that nothing but the largest of buttons would register the tap.

I just slide out the keyboard. Oh wait.

Generally I hit the "up" direction on the D-pad. That's the one with the least chance of interfering with operations.

I double-tap the fullscreen button, although I had the Power+Center unlock chord pretty well mastered.

Nowadays I stick to soft-poweroff and a 250ms long-press delay instead.
