AutoScan might be of use to you. [download]

For a quick check on AP you can also in Xterm type:
/sbin/ifconfig
[PS - somebody above mentioned /sbin/iwconfig which is from Wireless Tools for Linux ]

My os2007 is version 4.2007.26-8.
I installed AutoScan.1.01_Maemo.deb without a hitch - to the best of my recall - on July 30th.
Does the 'i' or 'details' button give you any information as to what might be conflicting/missing when the 'uninstallable' dialogue box comes up?

It didnt tell anything, just that sotware cant be installed after it downloaded it.. I dont have latest OS update, course havent had problems with memorycards, but version before that.

Yes that is the same version of autoscan.
My os2007 isn't the latest either I have as previously mentioned:
4.2007.26-8
It is a shame that there is no 'info/details' button for you to find out what might be conflicting/missing. There is no info in the Application Manager's Log either?
I have attached a jpeg to give you an idea of what it looks like running on my n800 and whether its worth pursuing.

[PS: I have not had occasion to use 'autoscan' much and so have not explored its full capabilities]

Just tried installing and running it over here on my N800, seems to work fine. Maybe you have a bad copy of the .deb file?
