Final curious matter. Everyone knows that the advertised 8GB is not what you really get, and I thought the 6GB Windows was registering was a bit small even after all the 1024 conversion.
Well my good transcend card reads 7.5GB but the one the NIT won't read registers as 6.8GB after a fresh windows format. So this card definitly has some damaged sectors.
I've contacted newegg for a replacement and they emailed me a pre-paid label to send the dead one back for an exchange.
Here's hoping the new firmware won't eat any more cards.
