I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to the repositories, so you lost me on the gronmayer repository. I found in the application manager that the maemo extras was disabled, so I enabled it, refreshed the application list, and installed the combined OpenSSH from there.

Same here. I enabled the extras repository and installed the openssh-client and openssh-server. It's Dec. 23 23:00 GMT.

openssh-server seems to be working properly, but I'm getting errors when I try to use the openssh-client to access a linux machine. Don't know what that problem is yet, but I thought I should at least pass this on as people are waiting for the files to be available.

The error I'm getting is ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host but that sounds like a minor configuration issue.

If you are having problems with ssh...
try "ssh -v -v -v" and if you can run sshd in verbose too.

you can save effort and use -vvv

Yes, thanks. Actually it works properly. I had just tripped one of our security features that was blocking my N800 by IP address. As soon as I fixed that the N800 ssh is working great.
