works on my n800! and to think i was about to downgrade back to OS 2007 just to get skype working again

maluka, how did you get it working? Or do you use an n810 firmware on your n800?

yes, i used the n810 firmware.

For the rookies?

I punched the apt-get install skpy and got "unable to lock the admin directory, are you root?"

The other part, dpkg, gave me "no such file or directory".

you can do sudo gainroot and then apt-get install skype to get the deb
Then:
dpkg -x /var/cache/apt/archives/skype_1.7.62.48.2_armel.deb /

Hmmmm....Skype running on an N810 ( or N800 with OS2008 )....now we are getting somewhere !!

Still seems to be the same Skype that is available for OS2007 - no obvious improvements whatsoever.

Just ported the GUI to work with OS2008 then, I suppose.
