So at this point we know its a race issue and for some reason its fixed (or seems to be fixed) around low temps? Is that as far as anyone has gotten?

[QUOTE=GeneralAntilles;141322]Yes, you should've seen mention of the bugzilla bug several times in several of the power on threads here.

If you mean Bugzilla Bug #3415, there is no mentioning of Harware or "race conditions". Your comment is the first useful I have found on the whole topic - where do you have the information from?

Update: at https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3415, comment #49 from Ryan Abel (maemo.org) 2009-07-10 15:36:42 GMT+3 says:

"These are two separate issues. The race condition that caused some N800s to have difficulty turning on has nothing to do with the crashes involved with this bug."

GeneralAntilles, I fear you have confused the two topics. The race condition is for the N800, here we are speaking about the N810. The temperature theory does not sound completely senseless: I now had the impression that it happened only if I had the deivce in my pocket, not if it was lying on my desk.

There is a way to read out the temp sensor which does not require to install any software: The "file" /sys/devices/platform/i2c_omap.1/i2c-1/1-0048/temp1_input contains the present temperature in 1/1000 degree Celsius.

My n810 did not want to power on. It powered on only under high pressure on power button and in case of continious pressing.

I have solved the problem with power on trouble on my n810 via making contacts of battary closer to each other. I used two pins for it. Seems that contacts in device too thin to provide good enough electical contact with battary.

May be my expirience will be usefull to someone.
