now the wimax version is killing me, should i just go back to bestbuy & get it back, or wait?, rumors have it that wimax is already live here in wash dc / bmore / chicago, but theres no way to test that w/o hands on equipment, i could do soo much with the n810, with gizmo or skype, i could turn it into an international calling device when i travel

Wimax is NOT as widely available as the hype would have you believe. It's very unlikely you'd find a wimax network on your travels. Wi-fi hotspots would be much more easy to find around the world, especially if you use services like Fon and Wippies, because they're here now, not just rumours in the future.
Europe has much faster and cheaper phone networks than America, with much wider coverage, so there's much less need for Wimax in Europe, and the same is true in many parts of Asia as well. Here in Finland I can surf as much as I want with my tablet through a 3G phone for about 14 dollars a month with no extra charges or caps at all.
If I were you, I'd get the tablet now and wait while wimax rolls out properly (if it ever does roll out, there was some talk at the beginning of the year that the wimax network Nokia was going to use had been cancelled).

lmao.. u killin me man! but i was always a late bloomer on tech, i'd rather use the n810 which is well tested by now, & some serious things are happening wth it, if i do such a thing, i'd really want to max up the external memory with a hard to find 32gb microSD, with an miniSD adapter., i'd ride the n810 out till the technical wheels fall off it. lol

OS2008 has definitely only just arrived though, so it's hard to believe they'd dump that a few months after it launched. Presumably if an upgraded tablet arrived soon it would still run OS2008, just a bit faster than the N8XX.
This all depends of course on how well the tablets are selling. If they're flying off the shelves then Nokia has more incentive to come up with new models.
