As far as i can remember there is already a repository of search URLs for Mozilla Firefox.
You may evaluate add at least a function for importing searches from there.

Hi,

There's a great German online dictionary called "dict.leo.org" supporting several languages (English, German, Spanish, Chinese and Italian).

It's very "lean" (meaning: not containig Flash crap, tons of grapics or commercials), finds out the language of the seach term automatically and also has a pda-optimized version, available at
http://pda.leo.org

My custom search (German<->English) for isearch-edit looks like this:

http://pda.leo.org/?lp=ende&lang=de&...=std&search=%s

With this link you get an ordered list of the search term (exact matches, examples, phrases etc.) with German as language for the Website output.

http://pda.leo.org/?lp=ende&lang=en&...=std&search=%s

uses English as language for the Website output.

I downloaded this little picture as icon for isearch-edit:
http://dict.leo.org/ende.gif

Have fun.

Hello...I have this installed and have my icon for IMDB all done...but every time I try to insert the search URL:

www.imdb.com/find

(or anything else for that matter)

It won't save it and just reverts to the "example.org" entry.

Help appreciated!

PS:
http://mycroft.mozdev.org/
I think this is the repository of search engines that was mentioned earlier.

It does not accept the search url, because it does not contain %s, search-urls must contain something like x=%s, otherwise it would not be possible to convert it to the xml-format that is expected by the internet-search-applet. I guess i should modify isearch-edit to show a warning in case a wrong url was added.

You should use http://www.imdb.com/find?q=%s;s=all for imdb.

Thank you very much for the hint, i look at it.

There's been a few new versions, but no searches pre-loaded with this, including the icons. I don't mind spending an afternoon contributing images and urls to this database, but I'm hoping there's a way these can be included, and then users can just check the boxes of the ones they want to keep, with the existing option to add whatever.

I'd think some that should exist are:

IMDB
Amazon
ITT
Mininova
Ebay
YouTube
Dictionary.com

Any others? I'd hate to have to manually download the images for these searches *and* manually copy-paste the URLs into the app. Is there a way for me to email these to the developer (and anyone else could do the same) to be included in the app, with a little walkthrough upon first-run?

Sorry, i did not yet have time to do a major feature update as promised, the inclusion of an easy import/export of searches is planned, but not yet started, the last changes were just usability improvements.

Yes, i can fully unterstand the problem, one thing why i would not add any images to the application is that i am not the copyright owner of these images, so some companies might not like a third person shipping files of their logos. One thing i would like to add to isearch-edit is the possibility to scale down big logos, so it would be possible to just save the normal logo from the homepage of YouTube for example and use it for the search with just a few additional clicks.

Thomas
