I think the way it's done currently is fine , just the only thing that I like about gxmessage is that it shows you the free space, but no biggie to check yourself

OK, since you bugged me SO much about it (some people!! :-), it's done.
The installer now shows you how much free space you have on your memory cards (and/or your root partition if you have 1 or 0 cards)
If you all want, you can uninstall and reinstall!!!! Just to see the glory of your free space on the choice screen!!!
In fact, I even considered trying to add the space to ukki's method.
Since I moved his stuff to preinst, I couldn't use the choose_card.txt file anymore, because it isn't extracted at that point.
So, I create it on the fly and put it in the /tmp directory.
I seriously though about getting fancy and adding the free space to the file I create, but I wimped out. :-)
