Cptnodegard, what is your experience with duty and taxes with stuff from US ?
I don't know if it is a french only problem.
I just read I may have to pay up to 80USD to postal services !

Thanks for doing the research Cptnodegard. I would definitely go with priority as my experience with first class has been REALLY BAD. I once had a perfectly addressed package go missing for a month!

In regards to duty, I am not sure of the regulations in France. However, when I sold my 770 to a guy in Canada he had me write "repair service" on the customs form and it when through without a hitch. I guess this implies that you already own it.

Found this on USPS:

Priority Mail International
2lbs $24.00

Express Mail International
2lbs $34.75

I havent tried the repair service trick, normally i just get the sender to write as close to the VAT limit as possible (in norway its $40 atm) and mark it as gift. With big expensive packages there might be a problem as they are allowed to open it and demand you prove the value is really that low. If its over the limit, you have to pay a fee for them doing the "service" along with VAT, whatever that is. here its 25%, so if i get a package marked $100 i have to pay $25 VAT + $15 in fees
