I guess compiling was the wrong word. I was doing three things at once and I thought mediaserv had a makefile, but it was another app.

I finally got it working. It was in the configs of the script.

Its a great lightweight mediaserver. I have had just one issue. It seems to randomly disconnect itself, usually just after serving a video to the n810. Its almost as if the transcoding gets hung up. watching the window shows the transcoding, then it finishes, and will just not serve up anything anymore saying something like "unable to connect to server" on the n810.

I kill it and restart and all is well.

Any plans to incorporate pass through of MP3/OGG, etc and photos? Then it would be a great little UPnP server.

Any specific problems you had, I'd like to hear about so I could make the instructions clearer.

The disconnect issue is annoying, unfortunately the Perl threading and mencoder forking model isn't an easy one to debug - but repeatable steps and as much version info as possible would be appreciated.

Currently no plans to integrate photos or music, as I've got direct access to those from Apache, however feel free to lodge a couple of issues in the issue tracker and maybe they'll get done (by me - or, even better, someone else).
