ok.

i got it installed, i played with it, read the manual and the beginers manual, i watched a few videos on youtube, i then went back and played with it a lot more untill i had definitly pressed every button at least twice. but i cannot understand how to use it.

can someone please confirm that it dose actually work?

and give me a few pointers as to who to get it to do something?

i have managed to track down a friend of a friend that is a tracker expert, but that could take a week to sort out and i want to play with it today.

thanks in advance

It works (for the most part), Moshing, but its not an easy program to immediately grasp. It takes a little time and trial and error to get it working right.

You'll probably want to load some samples on your Nokia first. You should be able to find a variety of them on the internet with even the most basic search. Then, you'll load them in to your Instruments and Samples patches. Switch to "Rec" mode, then "Ins. Ed." and you should be able to record any notes you play on the "keyboard" that stretches across the bottom into the sequencer grid above.

The real issue is that you're unable to pull up the virtual keyboard while running Milkytracker, so you won't be able to get into the effects colums and modify the sounds. If you're using the N810, you might be able to get around this limitation, but I'm on a N800 and haven't had much luck.

Is this different than the Debian armel version? I had to install it when I saw this thread, and it looks the same... ( I'm grooving to "synthetic b1tch" right now...)

That's really neat that you got that to work. I never tracked anything myself, but I took about 25 of my favorite mods and converted them to MP3 so I could keep them in my permanent music collection.

Likely it started from the same source, yes. The only modifications I did to the source was it was blowing up when quiting for some reason (which was especially annoying since it would then create large backup files in ~). Besides this, I didn't muck with anything (C++ is not my friend).

Hmm.. has anyone managed to get notes entered into the editor on an N800 without a BT keyboard?

I can manage to do notation using my Stowaway, but I was wondering if anyone's figured out another way around that so I wouldn't need to carry around the keyboard.. or in case I get struck with inspiration with no keyboard around.

Otherwise, this is perfect. Quite! Thank you VERY, very very much for this excellent port over to the tablet!

Bump. I've been in a bit of a musical mood recently (why? i'll be ****ed if i know ) with me uploading things like the timidity i hildonized to extras

But I've uploaded this to chinook & diablo extras-devel with some fixes I done (icon shows in task navigator so you can switch it, fullscreen is by default and it's set to the correct screen size, I've made the fullscreen key toggle fullscreen & I've made it use the hardware floating point for that extra performance boost )

I have an N800 too so I share the concerns about the keyboard too but milkytracker has a low res mode with a built in keyboard - I'll see if i can get the screen sizes right etc for the lowres version and upload that as a seperate build to -devel.

Wow! I was just in the writing about possible ports of MilkyTracker and got a suggestion about this thread!
Will try it on N810!
