Windows and OSX only (when I checked it).

Though if you need an alternative without doing it directly through OpenVPN or SSHing you could use Hamachi (which has a Linux client) and then VNC into your computer from that.

Oh, I also read LogMeIn as LogMein, and I'm not German either.

Heres an alternative to LogMeIn and Hamachi:

Build a Soekris; install lightweight OpenBSD on it; use SSH (+ S/Key) + PFauth to authenticate and establish IPsec or VPN with client. From there you can do anything. You can use RDP over the VPN. You can log in on your asterisk server. You can use VNC (although its slow). You can use telnet. You can use FTP. You can forward ports too as part of the PFauth.

No need for proprietary 3rd parties like Hamachi or LogMeIn.

This has never been critical for me so I haven't invested time in setting up ssh/vnc combo.

Central management of all the desktops (work/home) is really the value proposition with services like this one. Too bad it doesn't support Linux.

You can run RDP server on *NIX using xrdp. It uses X11 -> VNC -> RDP. If your Linux server is fast enough it can handle this, and VNC goes over loopback, so that won't lag the connection.

Keep in mind RDP usually doesn't support encryption.

You can also use NoMachine (NX) on the *NIX server, and use a NX client on your N8x0.

Plus the suggestions I provided here above.

However, Hamachi and LogMeIn are easier 'quick and dirty' solutions

Yeah, I tend to rely on Hamachi since I have trouble setting up my own VPN and SSH servers (and getting them through the router and all that).

I bought an n800 about a year ago. It was misplaced (don't ask) about 3 months ago. I've finally replaced it with an n810 (arrived today.) Immediately loaded LogMeIn on my Home PC and am very impressed with the performance of the tablet client. Dropping res. to 800x600 makes it very usable, IMO.

BIG thanks to LogMeIn and HAVA for taking notice of the potential of these tablets!

you can download it here:

Need to access the site from the N8X0 device to do it.

Enjoy!
I found it slow to connect to my Vista PC. Perhaps i'm using n800 on the same LAN as my PC.
The window on n800 is refreshing each time i click on something, and it takes a really long time to finish downloading the vista screen on n800.
Did you get same behavior? is there something to do to make things work faster than that?

You're not using the plugin, but the automatic fallback option of logmein - the static html version of the client. (It is easy to tell: the dinamic plugin has a black toolbar at the top, the static version is grey).

If it is correctly installed (see application manager / show installed applications), please check if the plugin is enabled in your browser: menu / tools / components: there should be shockwave flash, default plugin, and logmein.

If it still does not work, you can ask for help on nokia-nseries-feedback@logmein.com, they're really friendly people.

I just tried logmein + the N800 plugin. I get the grey bar toolbar - even though plugin is installed, and enabled in components.

-I'm using the free version, maybe that's why ?

OMG I LOVE YOU. Checking it out now.

**Update** Got the plugin, rebooted and all, and I'm stuck in a loop. I can get to the screen where I click on 'Remote Control', but it always just takes me back to the LogMeIn.com login screen after I login to the actual host computer. Won't load up the control interface or whatever. Anyone successfully gotten this to work?
