Okay!

So I've downloaded 2 of the games I own, and an emulator (I assume I'll need that too). I've tested them on my PC, and both work well.

Do I need to do anything special when I transfer them to the n800? I've only ever dl'd stuff through the n800 itself except for os2008, so I'm not sure if there's anything I need to know about to make sure the GBA stuff will run right after it's moved over.

A little more help please - I think I'm almost there!

Okay, so you'll need to install VGBA on your N800 if you haven't already. Then just copy the .gba files to your MMC card using the USB cable.

Once that's done, go to your MMC card in the file manager and just double-tap the .gba file. VGBA should open and start playing the game

Holy crap! It works! I didn't even use the cable, just moved the gba files to my card. The game controls are somewhat wonky - but I think I just haven't found the right ones yet. And the music didn't play - but hopefully I can find a fix for that - it played okay on the pc, so not sure what's going on there.

THANK YOU ALL!

you can make VGBA show the controls onscreen if you like (Menu --> show stylus cues) this is helpful for L/R/Start/Select

And if you go into Menu --> Configuration --> Audio settings you should be able to set whether or not music plays. I've found music to be sort of a mixed bag :/

Hint: You can gzip your .gba files. VGBA will handle .gba.gz files automagically.
