OS2008, Diablo is the latest.

Flashing the latest firmware.

I just charged it for 7+ hours, unplugged it from the wall, pressed the power button and nothing happened.

How come it won't start-up when it's not plugged into the wall, but I can start it up when it is plugged into the wall?

When I got my N800 I left it to charge over night. I've had too many devices ruined because the battery developed a memory. Also another silly question but are you holding down the power button for about 3 sec to turn on the device. The reason I ask is I didn't know this till I tried it and I though my device was defective out of the box as well.

Yes, I hold it down for 3 seconds.

no.

The tablet batteries do not develop memories. They ship with about a 40-60% charge and you may begin using them immediately.

It's actually 1.5 seconds.
