Some more clues from the Kaze project, where they seem to have gotten sound working.. : http://www.linux.onarm.com/gitweb/?p...tform-n8x0.git

Hey! What's the Kaze project? That's really interesting!

Very nice project!

I still haven't attempted these sounds tips yet since I been doing the software compiles and getting KDE working..

Now that KDE4 is functional I will probably start to look at sound again.. I really want Debian to be the only OS I need.

The only thing I got out of that was to copy libgstdsp* over, which didn't help. I assume I missed something? Direct link, please (if there is one)!

EDIT: Looking at it more, it looks like a missing device or ESD may be the issue (a few things, such as ESD by default, look for /dev/dsp, which doesn't exist, and I can't tell if ESD is running, ps aux|grep esd returns a "[mipid_esd]")

I hope that's helpful.

EDIT2: Also, Debian's ESD is being used and not Maemo's, FWIW.

EDIT3: Maemo has more ESD processes running:

/bin/sh -c /usr/bin/esd -promiscious -spawnf (cut off?)
/usr/bin/esd -promiscuous -nobeeps -spawnfd 15

EDIT4: Sound works even after moving /usr/bin/esd to /usr/bin/esd.bak and rebooting, but seems choppier (that may be stuff going on in the background, though). Maybe this isn't the answer...

I HAVE SOUND!

Once I figure out what the hell I just did I'll inform the mob ROFL...

I stole everything from maemo... didn't have to install a damned thing! QWERTY'S POST WAS FRIGGIN AWESOME!!!

(disclaimer: I say i have sound because the devices are being made and speaker-test works.. it sends out scrambled noise. MPD is still, however, dying on me every time I try and play a mp3 file.. bastage!)

Good job fatalsaint!!! , I'll try this after i get Deblet re-installed. (I was not able to save my Deblet install sadly.....)

Btw, I might be unavailable for a day or two trying to make my deblet install all set up and running again.. I absolutely DESTROIED my cloned and internal Diablo install trying to repair my badly damaged Deblet install. (in a nut shell i trashed my tablet entirely)

It still doesn't work for me... I followed your directions to the letter, too.

Maybe (hopefully?) you forgot something?
