Pidgin is an excellent messenger program that supports AIM. It's a great little app, doesn't get much cleaner and simpler...

Agreed, but since the NIT already has messaging, I'd prefer to keep to that instead and modify whats there than add new stuff. Its like this- who'd want rims from Company-X on a new BMW?

It would depend on what the rims looked like....to me, the included IM client is like having hubcaps on that BMW.
