It's a good idea to check memory cards for filesystem corruption. It the filesystem is corrupted, swap file used on it may behave unstable.

I have experienced a similar problem, not with any PDF reader, but with both Notes and Leafpad. I do a fair bit of writing with my N800, and it randomly locks up, pauses, then reboots. Sometimes days between lockups, sometimes as many as 3 in one hour. I'm running the latest Diablo OS (reflashed several times), booting from internal memory (not from SD card), I have a 16GB SDHC card in the external slot for simple storage. Everything else runs fine, music, videos, games, xournal, gnumeric, fbreader, sketch, web browsing etc. Only locks up when I'm working with text. I'm curious to know if anyone has any suggestions? Thanks!
