That is weird. So it is not a network or router problem. Still, turn the firewall off and try to connect with rdesktop. Probably not going to make a difference. Also, your ISP may be blocking stuff. Did you try with another PC (instead of N800)? Could be a N800 software problem (though I have never had any, and I am running the hack to enable RDP on home premium).

I have n810.. I brought my laptop to my parents house today and connected via one of their xp machines.. (no clue what version it was running or what service pack).

I simply enabled xp rdesktop on their router (same port 3389 on their router anyway).... And it worked like a charm. (As backwards as it is.. I figure if I can connect via a public ip address then that is a good start).

So to clarify. I brought my laptop to their house.. connected from their computer to my public ip and everything worked fine.

At my house I have tried to connect from my n810 to my laptop which is at my house.

I have also tried to connect from a computer with rdesktop at school to my laptop at my house.

So far only connecting via public ip has worked from my parents computer while my computer was at their house.

As to ISP we live in different cites but, have same ISP. We both have bellsouth. I live in hammond they are closer to baton rouge (central area).

They got their router a long time ago.. mine is a newer model router.. but, its the same service. We both have the highest (non business) connection to the net. They have phone and other services which I don't use.. but, that aside I got all the same internet privilges they offer the 'top package' internet customers.

Have you checked that RDP server is running. I know that XP and Vista home editions do not come with it activated as standard. You will need the termserv patch to enable this. I used this guide.

Mmm very strange. What I suggest just to make sure is to open up another port on the router with same Tcp properties. Remember this port and try to Remote in with the tablet but specify the new port ie
192.168.10.3:3900 where 3900 or whatever port you choose is specified at the end instead of the default 3389.
Be sure to open this port on your firewall aswell.
