If you just can't wait the full two hours to get to a full carge.

(After that, just keep charging it (even while using it) as soon as you get the chance. These batteries are happy to be charged often and they intensely dislike a deep discharge.)
I was looking for a thread like this cause I have been wondering about this question for a while. One think that is not specified here is that, whether charged or not, you can not boot up the device with the adapter plugged in. I find that weird. It goes straight to a black charging screen and the device turns off when you disconnect the adapter while in that stage. I find that annoying when my the battery runs out but, I still want to use my device. The device shuts off and I then have to wait for it to charge because it won't turn on while charging unless the battery is charged and the device is turn on on battery first then plugged in to continue charging.

Simply wait until your tablet moves past the initial, non-animated "Charging" screen. Once the "Charging" icon is animating on the black screen, your tablet may be booted.

By pressing and holding the power button until the white "Nokia" screen is shown, just as with a cold boot.

No, it does not work for me. I just get the option to reboot or shutdown.

What do you mean? You get a menu? Do you hold the button?
