FYI: Comcast blocks based on the MAC address of the port their modem connected to. If you add a router, clone the original MAC.

I'm not following you. I've used Comcast for about eight years now, and I've changed routers a few times, connected computers straight to the modem for testing, and dropped an Ooma hub in between my modem and my router. I've never had to clone a MAC address or notify Comcast of any changes.
